Fixing your vSphere Replication after error.

Hey All, This one is for me to remember the methods to fix an issue using vSphere Replication 5.1.2.0 and a VM losing it's replication, me attempting to reconfigure and it failing with generic error, going through the removal process and it erroring out stating the VM is already being replicated. Find the VMHost that VM in question is residing on. PowerCLI get Hostname and IP for all VMs in environment

I needed a way to get a dump of all the VMs in the environment with their IPs neatly tucked into a single file. So I developed this script to do it. $CSVOut = ".\Server_IP_List.csv" Write-Host "Building VM List..." $vm = Get-VM write-host "Building Variable List..." $vmview = $vm | Get-View $CSV = "Server Name, IPAddress 1, IPAddress 2 `n" Foreach ($v in $vmview){ $Name = $v.Guest.HostName If ($Name -ne $null -and $Name -ne ""){ $CSV += $Name Foreach ($nic in $v.Guest.Net){ $IP = $nic.IPAddress $CSV += "," $CSV += $IP } } Else { $CSV += $vmview.Name } $CSV += "`n" } Write-Host "Writing file $CSVOut" Write "$CSV" | Out-File -Encoding ASCII $CSVOut -NoClobber -append You need to ensure you are firstly connected to the vCenter before running the script but it outputs a great little CSV.

Why does powershell report an error

When I try and do a storage vMotion (svMotion) to an NFS datastore? I was running into an issue where a powershell one-liner: get-vm <GuestVMName> | Move-VM -datastore "NFS_Datastore" It reported that: The specified parameter 'Datastore' expects a single value, but your name criteria 'NFS datastore' corresponds to multiple values. Huh? And then I clued in that each ESXi host sees the NFS stores as individual datastores on each host. So I changed the script to this get-vm <GuestVMName> | Move-VM -datastore (get-vmhost <specific vmhost> | get-datastore "NFS_Datastore") And Voila, it works. the ( ) pin points which host's NFS store it should be talking to.
